Earlham Packers 26, Adel Colts 0

The Packer defense consistently made key plays in their own territory to stop the fast Colts. Austin Adams ran for two scores and Tyler Book threw touchdown passes to Kyle Weber and Chad Donnelly.

 

Adel Titans 37, Woodward-Granger Jets 33

The Jets returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, then scored quickly again to take a 13-0 lead. The Titans responded with four rushing touchdowns (two by Zach Dykstra and one each by Alec Rash and Jared Grove) to take a 24-13 lead by halftime. The teams traded touchdowns, and the Jets closed the gap to 30-27 on a scoring pass play. The Titans put the game out of reach with another touchdown by Jared Grove, but the game Jets scored a touchdown as time ran out.

 

Grimes Bucs 25, Grimes Steelers 18

Jarred Kramer paced the Bucs' offense, while Zach Gardner had a great day for the Steelers in this terrifically played matchup of cross town rivals.

September 27

Adel Titans 43, Van Meter Broncos 8

A strong rushing attack led the Titans past the Broncos. Scoring on the ground were Zach Dykstra, Ryan Krugler (2 TDs), Austin Schmidt, and Jordan Grove. QB Alec Rash also connected with Dykstra for a touchdown. The Broncos had a strong will and came up with a beautiful run and extra point for their first points of the game. The Titans defense again showed up with great pursuit, and their top flag pullers were Dykstra, and Jared and Jordan Grove.

 

Earlham Packers 40, Earlham Chargers 7

The Packers' Austin Adams scored four touchdowns, Kyle Weber scored one on a pass from Tyler Book, and Derrick Hauschildt weaved his way through traffic on a long TD run as the Packers triumphed. Intrepid Denton Hopkins, playing on a bum foot, scored the Chargers' touchdown.

 

Van Meter Raiders 28, Woodward-Granger Jets 18

On a windy morning in Woodward, the Raiders opened the scoring quickly when Tyler Reicks bolted for a touchdown on the opening kickoff. Reicks and Michael Folkerts added two more first half touchdowns. The Jets scored once in the first half on a run by Cory Crnkovich.  In the second half, the Jets defense held the Raiders to just six points, while the Jets offense scored twice on runs by Crnkovich and quarterback Jacob Musser.  Folkerts and Tyler Reicks led the Raider defense with 10 flags a piece.

September 20

Adel Titans 30, Dallas Center Cowboys 24 (4 OTs)

In an epic quadruple overtime thriller, the undefeated Titans prevailed over the talented Cowboys. The Titans took a 12-0 lead on two touchdowns (one on a run, and one on an interception return) by Alec Rash. Undaunted, the Cowboys scored on a TD pass to make the score 12-6. After an interception with just 15 seconds left in the half, the Cowboys quickly  knotted the score at 12 with another scoring pass play. Both defenses stiffened in the second half, but the Titans broke through with a scoring pass to Zach Dysktra. After an interception with just two minutes left in the game, the Cowboys evened the score with an excellent TD pass.  In the second OT, the Titans went up 24-18 when Rash hit Dysktra for a TD strike. The Cowboys evened the score at 24-24, but their conversion attempt failed. In the fourth OT, the Titans scored, then denied the Cowboys on their possession to take home a hard-fought victory.

 

Grimes Steelers 28, Earlham Chargers 7

Two high-powered offenses were mostly cooled by fine defensive play. After the Chargers held the Steelers on a fourth down deep in Chargers' territory, Tyler Payton came through with an extraordinary defensive effort to record a safety for the Steelers. Charlie Rummel sealed the win with a touchdown romp on fourth and 25.

 

Earlham Packers 24, Grimes Bucs 20

On a beautiful, sunny football morning, the Packers and Bucs tangled in a well-played contest between solid teams. The Packers' Austin Adams returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, then the Bucs answered with a pair of scores. The teams traded touchdowns before Adams put the Packers ahead to stay with a long run for a score. He finished the day with three TDs, while Tyler Book added another. Scoring for the Bucs were Jarrod Kramer (two TDs), and Dalton Gustafson, who caught a touchdown pass from Colin Schroeder.

 

Van Meter Raiders 47, Grimes Chiefs 0

While the Raiders explosive offense was hard to keep out of the end zone, the Chiefs did display some aggressive defense and a never-say-die attitude. Overberg, Thompson and Sauderman gave outstanding defensive performances, but the Raiders quickness and experience helped carried them to victory.

September 13

Earlham Chargers 52, Van Meter Broncos 0

A stout defense and a well-balanced offense paced the Chargers past the visiting Broncos. Travis Herman intercepted a pass for the Chargers.

 

Earlham Packers 50, Dallas Center Cowboys 44

The Packers prevailed in an entertaining, back-and-forth contest when they scored a touchdown in the last minute of the game to take the lead for good. Austin Adams galloped for six touchdowns on the day for the Packers. Jordan DeWald and Luke Johnson each piled up big yardage for the Cowboys and had a couple of touchdowns a piece.

 

Adel Titans 13, Grimes Steelers 12

A successful extra point conversion was the difference as the Titans edged the Steelers in a well-played battle for first place in Division 2. 

 

Van Meter Raiders 13, Grimes Bucs 7

On a rain-slickened field in Van Meter, the day was ruled by hardnosed defense. Indomitable Spencer Wambold led the Raiders' charge, making several key plays at crucial times in the game. After allowing two touchdowns in the first half, the Buccaneers' defensive line dropped the hammer and stopped the Raiders' potent attack dead in its tracks.  Jared Kramer's touchdown and Collin Schroeder's subsequent extra point pulled the Bucs to within a touchdown, but the Raiders held on for the win in this tight battle between evenly-matched teams.

 

Adel Colts 38, Grimes Chiefs 34

The Colts defense held off the Chiefs late in the game to claim their first win of the season.

September 6

Earlham Packers 32, Grimes Chiefs 6

The Packers broke open a tight defensive contest with three touchdowns late in the second half. The E-Pack got scores from Austin Adams, Kyle Weber, Jake Hensley and Alex Arnburg. Defensively, Aly Tekippe pulled nine flags for the Packers and Alex Arnburg intercepted two passes and made several superb plays.

August 23

Van Meter Raiders 30, Earlham Packers 12

The Packers struck first when Derrick Hauschildt took the opening kickoff back for a touchdown, but the Raiders came back with four straight touchdowns in the first half. Tyler Reicks led the Raiders offense with several electrifying long runs for touchdowns. The stellar Raiders defense was anchored by Meg Goodson, who intercepted two passes. Austin Adams returned a punt for a Packers touchdown in the second half.
